Mission: Club Super C.J. Inc. is devoted to promoting a culture of acceptance, enrichment, empowerment and inclusion in the lives of teens and young adults with autism and providing support and resources for their families. We aim to offer innovative programs geared toward the specific interests and talents of those on the spectrum, job training, social clubs, talent showcases and achievement programs as well as opportunities for employment and volunteerism. Our goal is simple: to establish a safe, supportive, and inclusive space free of bullying and judgement for those on the autism spectrum self-advocating or with the support of family.
Vision: Our vision is a safe and inclusive community that accepts and respects all on the autism spectrum, empowering each person to reach their highest potential while making lifelong friendships and developing a community.
Inspiration: C.J. is my inspiration. Christopher David Johnson, our 12-year-old boy. C.J. was diagnosed just before his second birthday. Like many other autism stories, he lost his language and eye contact at around 14 months. With almost ten years of therapy and interventions C.J. is thriving compared to his prognosis given at age 2. We are blessed. I am inspired to help as many autism families as possible.
Why Now: Soon after C.J.’s diagnosis, my health declined. Basically, as soon as I got the hang of the autism therapies, diet and restrictive behaviors I found out I had a life-threatening illness. Five years spent asking God for more time. I felt I not only and most importantly wanted to see my children grow into beautiful adults and one day hold my grandchildren, but I just knew I had so much more in me. After nearly losing my battle, I was given exactly what I asked God for. My health started improving and I started feeling hope again. While my illness is lifelong, I was blessed with strength and resilience. I promised myself and God that if given more time I would make it count. So here we are. This is my passion project. I saw a video of Jamie Lee Curtis and her quote was “If not now when? If not me who?” This sparked something in me that cannot be undone. Club Super C.J. Inc.
